According to an incident report, an employee contacted police shortly before 2:30 a.m. Saturday after two men wearing masks threw him onto the ground before leaving the scene.A Conway officer arrived at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home on Central Landing Boulevard a few minutes later to speak with the 25-year-old man and learned the suspects fled "in a pristine beige Ford Crown Vic."The employee told authorities he went to the funeral home to drop off some paperwork when "a taller male jumped on his back and attempted to throw him to the ground" as he walked toward the building's exit."[The victim said he] fought back and stated that he hit the male in the face before he fled," the incident report reads in part. "[The employee] advised that he believed that the getaway vehicle was a co-worker's until the males fled in it towards the interstate."According to the report, the employee who reported the incident does not believe anything was taken from the funeral home and that "the doors were left unlocked by accident.""Other than items knocked over, no damage was observed in the building," the report states.Man walking to work jailed after admitting to taking Xanax, falling into street, petting grassA Conway man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication Saturday morning after reportedly petting grass when he fell to the ground.Authorities were called out shortly before 8:30 a.m. Saturday regarding a man who was walking near the intersection of Ingram and Sixth streets who "appeared to be under the influence," according to an incident report.Officer Michael Jones soon located the man in question near 10Box Cost-Plus and stopped to speak with the suspect.The man identified as 41-year-old Ronnie Welch did not smell of alcohol but seemed confused when asked if he needed medical attention for his bloodied nose, according to the officer's report."I referenced his mangled facial appendage and reminded him that he was covered in blood," the incident report reads in part. Lewis Winter died at 90 years old on Friday. He was born in Westover, Texas, on Nov. 14, 1927.He served many roles in his 32 years on the Conway Fire Department, and he supported countless families in bidding their goodbyes to their late loved ones in his 75 years with Roller-McNutt Funeral Home. He holds a statewide title for the longest serving funeral director in the state.During a funeral service held Monday afternoon at Conway First Church of the Nazarene, Pastor Tim Britton said that long-standing title Winter holds as funeral director may possibly include nationwide status.Members of the Conway Fire Department lined both the left and right sides of the sanctuary during the service as family, friends and several community members gathered to celebrate and say their goodbyes to a man that had formed bonds and lasting friendships in his many years."Today it's an honor for us to be here for the Winter family in this moment because Lewis shared this moment with so many countless families in Conway," Britton said as he asked those in the audience to stand up if Lewis Winter had impacted their life throughout his career as funeral director. Few remained seated as nearly every being in the crowded sanctuary rose to their feet.Many looked about as tears filled their eyes, seeing in person the tremendous impact Winter had upon the community he served.Lewis and his wife Freedia shared 68 years together. The couple has two sons, Eddie and Mike Winter. Mike is the current fire chief at the Conway Fire Department.Lewis was a long-time member of the Conway First Church of the Nazarene. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Forces. He also served the Army National Guard and later served during the Korean Conflict. The community model was also a member of the Green Grove Masonic Lodge #107 of Conway.He met the majority of the community through his roles with the fire department and funeral home.
